Position Overview

We are seeking a Cloud DevOps Engineer with deep experience in Azure infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and DevOps methodologies to support defence-oriented technology deployments and cutting-edge platform integrations. You will play a key role in designing, deploying, and optimizing secure, scalable, and resilient cloud environments, while integrating novel technologies into production systems.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape mission-driven systems architecture and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams supporting national security programs and innovation initiatives.

Team Principles
At Atreides, we believe that teams work best when they:

  • Remain curious and passionate in all aspects of our work
  • Promote clear, direct, and transparent communication
  • Embrace the 'measure twice, cut once' philosophy
  • Value and encourage diverse ideas and technologies
  • Lead with empathy in all interactions

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage robust Azure-based infrastructure solutions using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Bicep, Terraform, ARM templates).
  • Integrate emerging and novel technologies (e.g., mobile platforms, geospatial analytics, zero-trust architectures) into legacy or hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Collaborate with application developers to understand system dependencies and ensure deployment pipelines meet operational and security requirements.
  • Optimize infrastructure performance, scalability, and cost through continuous monitoring and capacity planning.
  • Implement and manage security controls, ensuring compliance with frameworks such as NIST 800-53, CMMC, or FedRAMP (where applicable).
  • Manage Cloudflare services including DNS, WAF, Zero Trust Access, and CDN configuration for production environments.
  • Support and maintain MDM platforms (e.g., Intune, Jamf, Kandji) and mobile device policies across the organization.
  • Work with third-party vendors and defence partners, ensuring integrations and deliverables meet program-specific requirements.
  • Document infrastructure architecture, standards, and procedures to support knowledge transfer and audit readiness.
  • Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for infrastructure-related events.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering roles with a focus on Azure.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, Pulumi).
  • Experience deploying and managing Cloudflare services including WAF, DNS, and Zero Trust configurations.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts including VPNs, firewalls, routing, and virtual networks.
  • Familiarity with mobile device management (MDM) platforms and endpoint policy enforcement.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps toolchains (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins).
  • Proficiency with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, AKS, Docker Swarm).
  • Solid understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases and data-intensive systems, including exposure to big data environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, documentation discipline, and the ability to work independently and within agile teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially when working across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Azure Certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400) or equivalent hands-on proficiency.
  • Familiarity with geospatial data formats (e.g., GeoTIFF, SHP, KML, PostGIS) and related processing workflows.
  • Experience supporting defence, intelligence, or government clients, particularly in secure or classified environments.
  • Exposure to zero-trust architectures, identity management (e.g., Azure AD, Okta), and compliance workflows.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans
  • Flexible hybrid work environment
  • Additional benefits like flexible hours, work travel opportunities, competitive vacation time and parental leave

While meeting all of these criteria would be ideal, we understand that some candidates may meet most, but not all. If you're passionate, curious and ready to "work smart and get things done," we'd love to hear from you.
