Sr. Manufacturing Engineer – Solid Rocket Motor Production
Castelion is seeking a mechanically minded and autonomously driven manufacturing engineer to lead day to day production of solid rocket motors, to include manufacturing processes like machining, propellant dispensing and casting, non-destructive evaluation, and mechanical assembly. This role will report directly to Castelion’s Head of Manufacturing and coordinate closely with other members of the engineering leadership team to eliminate roadblocks to achieving the company’s technical goals.
Responsibilities
- Ensure motor production capacity does not block progress on company goals. Take full ownership and initiative to do whatever is required to achieve this outcome.
- Develop process and factory design to transition from development to production rates of 1,000s of units per year.
- Develop and refine process documentation including build instructions, test procedures, safety standards, and mBOMs.
- Create, maintain and communicate detailed plans and schedules
- Work closely with supply chain to develop new and existing suppliers
- Participate in design reviews to drive design for manufacturing (DFM)
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline
- 5+ years of manufacturing, fabrication, assembly or testing experience
- Demonstrated direct or indirect leadership
- Experience manufacturing integrated systems.
- Ability to drive for and understand the fundamental reason for why a tool or piece of infrastructure is important to the company’s technical goals.
- Experience managing suppliers for large parts and a willingness to get on site with vendors to solve issues and get delivery of parts on time
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience in solid rocket motor fabrication
- Experience with chemical dispensing
- Experience with ordinance
- Experience with NX/Teamcenter CAD/PDM
- Hands on experience in metal fabrication
- Experience in transitioning development process to production
Additional Requirements
- Willing and able to work extended hours and/or weekends with minimal notification to meet critical deadlines leading up to major milestones.
- Able to travel up to 30% on an ongoing basis

ITAR Requirements:
