Overview

Charter is building the insurance infrastructure for the space economy. We’re looking for a Founding Producer who wants to be more than just a desk at yet another insurance brokerage. Your entry point will be commercial lines like D&O and GL, and every account you win creates the wedge for Charter to cross-sell specialty launch and in-orbit satellite cover, giving you leverage few Producers in the world will ever have.

Charter is already backed by top-tier InsurTech and FinTech VCs, with established partnerships with leading carriers like AXA XL, Munich Re, Atrium, and Global Aerospace.

What we’re missing is you: the Producer who will kick down doors, sit across from founders and boards, and make Charter the first name they think of when they hear “insurance.”

This role is like nothing you’ve seen before. This isn’t a safe, back-office sales seat like you’d get at a giant firm where you’re cold-calling your way through a list. Charter’s existing network of space companies, investors, and operators will get you in the room. Our technology platform maps the ecosystem and surfaces prospects before they’re on anyone else’s radar. You’ll walk into meetings with insight, credibility, and context no other broker has. Every day at Charter, from the moment you wake to the moment your eyes close, you’ll contribute maximum effort to our shared mission to advance humanity with effective and creative risk solutions to provide financial security for the most important companies of the 21st century.

This role is the tip of the spear. It’s designed for someone who wants to dominate the most exciting and under-served market in the world.

What you’ll Build and Own

  • Crack open and build a roster of flagship accounts made up of the space companies inventing the future. Make Charter their first and only broker of record.
  • Serve as the trusted partner to founders, CFOs, GCs, and boards. Be the first call they make when they want solutions, not excuses. You’ll get to be the Producer who speaks their language and earns their confidence.
  • Write Charter’s sales playbook: prospecting strategies, messaging, and repeatable motions that scale, turning one flagship account into ten. You’ll be the standard bearer that every future Producer will look to for guidance.
  • Use Charter’s proprietary software and warm relationships to originate smarter, faster, and further up the decision chain. Our technology and brand recognition will open doors that others can’t.
  • Represent Charter in the rooms that matter: working with companies backed by world-class investors, structuring programs with Lloyd’s syndicates, and setting the pace for the entire industry.
  • Partner closely with Technical Brokers to transform bold opportunities into precedent-setting programs. You originate the deal, they engineer the cover, and together you set the benchmark others will follow.
  • And with a serious equity compensation package, Charter’s growth curve will become your growth curve as you help us learn, grow, and win.

What Victory Looks Like

  • You’ll accelerate faster than you’ve ever experienced before. Within 12 months you’ll have built a seven-figure GWP book from the world’s most exciting venture-backed space companies, anchored by a handful of flagship, referenceable logos, driven by Charter’s inbound flow from existing client relationships and the intelligence generated by our platform.
  • Your qualified win rate is materially higher than market (>30%), and your meeting-to-BOR cycle time is measured in weeks, not quarters.
  • Renewals stick (≥90% retention) and expansion is normal: limits go up, additional lines are added, and you’ll have a strong attach rate into adjacent coverages.
  • Inbound takes over: a growing share of your pipeline comes from founder and investor referrals because of the unfair advantage Charter's technological edge gives you, and because you’re so damned good at your job that your performance and presence circulate through the ecosystem.
  • Carriers prioritize your deals: you’re invited into pre-bind conversations, you have standing relationships with key Lloyd’s syndicates/E&S markets, and they’re willing to craft manuscript terms because they trust you and they know your accounts are clean and scalable.
  • You become a visible voice in the category: you’ll be speaking at all the right conferences, co-authoring case studies, and in every closed-door roundtable with operators and investors.
  • Meanwhile, your operating cadence scales internally through disciplined forecasting accuracy and a reproducible outreach engine. In 12 months, your first few associates/BD hires will be shadowing your routines so the motion grows beyond you.

Who You Are

  • You’re a closer, with a proven record of originating and winning complex commercial accounts. And you can move faster than anyone else to get it done.
  • You’re seeking your life’s work. You want ownership, visibility, and the chance to bet on a rocket ship.
  • 5+ years of commercial lines production experience in any industry (with particular preference to aviation and aerospace), ideally with exposure to E&S/surplus markets and with strong knowledge of D&O, GL, Cyber, and E&O policy structures.
  • You’re relationship-driven, with the presence to win trust at the founder and board level.
  • If you aren’t already networked in aerospace, defense, or high-growth ventures, you’re enough of a hardcharger that you’re ready to build that network with speed, conviction, and violence of execution.
  • You are restless where you are, because you know you’re capable of more. You hear the clarion call of adventure. You’re ready to put your name on the story of how an entire new market was won.
