Our Mission & Team

At Flexport, our mission is to make global commerce so easy there will be more of it. The Ocean Allocation & Yield team is at the heart of this mission, orchestrating the movement of thousands of containers across the globe. We are evolving from manual processes to a future where every allocation decision is standardized, automated, and optimized.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Associate, you will be a critical part of the team executing our strategy. You will be a key link between our operations teams and our technology, using your analytical skills to support the rollout of new, data-driven processes. You'll work at the intersection of our Commercial, Procurement, and Operations teams to help us measure and improve our cost-to-serve, client satisfaction, and overall yield. This role is perfect for a data-savvy operator who wants to make a measurable impact.

You will:

  • Support the adoption of our core planning tools (FMT/BAE) by analyzing usage data, identifying opportunities for improvement, and assisting with global training and change management.
  • Analyze the performance of our segmented product strategy (Standard, Deferred, Express), monitoring KPIs to ensure we are delivering on our service-level promises for reliability and speed.
  • Gather and translate business needs from our operations teams into clear requirements for our Technology partners.
  • Execute project plans and pilots designed to test and implement new, standardized processes across our global gateways.
  • Develop, maintain, and iterate on the KPIs and dashboards that measure the health of our programs, from automation rates to On-Time Performance (OTP).
  • Transform raw data into actionable business insights using SQL and data visualization tools to support data-driven decision-making.

You should have:

    • 5-7+ years of experience in ocean freight or in a business analyst, data analyst, or project coordination role.
    • A strong analytical and systems-thinking mindset. You are skilled at understanding workflows, working with data, and identifying the root cause of a problem.
    • Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau) to build insightful dashboards.
    • Experience supporting new process or system rollouts. You know how to assist with change management and help a team adopt a new way of working.
    • Bias for Action, Process, and Data: You're a structured thinker who is detail-oriented and excels at executing a clear plan.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You can work collaboratively with a wide range of global stakeholders.
    • An obsession with client happiness. You understand that our operational performance directly impacts our clients' success.
    • Courage to challenge the status quo. When you see something broken or inefficient, you are driven to help fix it.
