Job Title: Drone Software EngineerLocation: Boulder, ColoradoEmployment Type: Full-time; hybrid or in-officeSalary Range: From $100,000 to $170,000 depending on experienceAbout ThinkOrbital:ThinkOrbital is a Boulder, Colorado-based aerospace startup that is developing hardware and software for X-ray inspection and electron beam welding. Last year, we performed two spaceflights with two more planned for the next year, while simultaneously developing a drone-based terrestrial application for our technology.Position Summary:As a Drone Software Engineer at a small and agile startup, you will be responsible for full software and interface integration of our payload onto state-of-the-art heavy lift drones, encompassing everything from hardware/sensor selection, flight control and navigation to data processing and semi-autonomous mission planning.We require U.S. citizenship or permanent residency (green card).Key Responsibilities:• Development of software for two-drone formation flight, autonomous positioning during payload operation and SLAM (simultaneous localization and mapping)• Decision-making on hardware selection (compute, sensors, etc.) for different applications• Prototyping user/pilot interface• Evaluation and testing of the implemented solutionsMandatory Qualifications:• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency• Ability to internalize milestones and independently run with them.
